ALTA Insights: The Corporate Transparency Act

The Corporate Transparency Act is a new law that took effect Jan. 1. Many companies will need to prepare and file a Beneficial Owner Information (BOI) report with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network of the U.S. Treasury (FinCEN). Register for this CertifID-sponsored ALTA Insights webinar to learn if your company needs to file a BOI report. Attendees will learn about the Corporate Transparency Act and its definitions of reporting company, beneficial owner, substantial control and company applicant. The presentation also will discuss what the CTA requires, how FinCEN’s reporting rule relates to the statute and when reporting companies are required to file their first BOI reports. Failing to file on time can result in a $500 per day fine. Willful failure to file can be prosecuted as a felony.
