ALTA Policy Forms Update

ALTA’s Policy Forms Committee has continued its ongoing work to develop and modify policy forms and endorsements to align with legal, regulatory and social justice considerations.

The Policy Forms Committee received valuable feedback by key customers during the public comment period for the 2021 ALTA Policy Forms collection. 

The new 2021 ALTA Policy Forms collection will be published July 30. The effective date, as authorized, remains July 1.

While moving cautiously forward has slowed the process past the original publication target of July 1, the comments provided by the industry and the public, along with extensive consideration by the Forms Committee, has allowed the development of updated forms that will benefit all parties to support changing social, legal and regulatory landscapes. 

To prepare for the new forms, title companies should participate in training and guidance from their underwriters. Agents will also want to work with their production software providers to ensure that the updates have been made after forms have been appropriately filed and approved by state regulators, and authorized by their underwriters.
