Housing Policy is Taking Shape. Make Sure Your Voice Counts with TAN
Congress is Primed to Act on Housing. Help Us Keep the Momentum Going!
When title professionals speak up, lawmakers listen.
That was clear at the 2026 ALTA Advocacy Summit last month, where more than 250 title professionals came to Washington, D.C.—the highest attendance in the event’s history. Together, they held more than 200 meetings on Capitol Hill to educate legislators about the vital role the title industry plays in protecting consumers, property rights and the housing market.
Now, Congress is considering its first significant housing legislation in a decade, and we need to keep our momentum going! As you read this, lawmakers are determining the path forward to pass the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, reignite the housing market and get more Americans into homes.
That’s why now is the time to join the Title Action Network (TAN), ALTA’s grassroots advocacy community that helps title professionals connect directly with policymakers at the moments that matter most. TAN ensures your voice is part of the conversation.
Joining TAN is free for all title professionals and takes just two minutes to sign up. Through TAN, you’ll receive timely alerts and pre-built tools to contact your elected officials in just a few clicks. No guesswork, just real impact.
Whether you are new to TAN or were a member in the past, remember that you must renew your free membership annually to keep receiving alerts.
Housing policy is moving. Make sure your voice is part of the process.

MV Realty to Pay $2.5 Million to California NTRAPS Victims
MV Realty, the company that marketed a controversial “Homeowner Benefit Program” that locked consumers into 40-year listing agreements, has settled its legal matter with the California Attorney General’s Office and will pay $2.5 million to impacted homeowners. The deal follows recent settlements with officials in Nevada, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, Massachusetts and Colorado, as state attorneys general continue taking action on NTRAPS, an issue ALTA has worked on with attorneys general across the country.
Opinion: Congress Should Protect Property Rights, Not Shift Title Risk to Consumers and Lenders
In this op-ed, ALTA CEO Chris Morton urges Congress to pass the Protecting America’s Property Rights Act. Chris warns that weakening title insurance protections or relying on unregulated alternatives could shift hidden legal, fraud and title risks onto consumers, lenders and taxpayers. True housing affordability must include secure property rights and strong, state-regulated safeguards that protect homeowners before and after closing.
