SoftPro Partners with Real Estate Data Shield for Cyber Security Training

July 19, 2018

SoftPro has partnered with Real Estate Data Shield (REDS) to provide its customers preferred access to cybersecurity training. As a preferred vendor for information security solutions to many national title underwriters and one of ALTA’s Elite Providers, REDS’ training course has won two prestigious e-learning awards.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our customers invaluable access to educating staff on avoiding cyber security risks,” said Joyce Weiland, SoftPro president. “The fact that the REDS training program is specifically geared to the title industry makes it a natural fit for our customers.”

Wire fraud, cyber fraud, Business Email Compromise (BEC), Email Account Compromise (EAC) and social engineering attacks are on the rise in the title and settlement industry. Title companies are being brought into lawsuits and suffering negative financial and reputation impacts like never before. Cybersecurity studies show that the single greatest risk is the human. Regulators identify staff training as a primary security control. Thus, employee training on information security laws and regulations, emerging fraudster tactics, and in the identification and proper handling of any such attacks is one of the most effective steps a company can take. SoftPro customers can subscribe to the REDS training at a preferred rate in order to take advantage of REDS’ continued evolution in addressing emerging cyber security laws and regulations as well as emerging cyber fraudster attack tactics.

REDS offers compliance and information security web training that takes only 45 minutes to complete and is designed specifically for title and settlement agents. A course subscription allows a company access for staff and independent contractors on the laws and regulations, emerging fraudster BEC and social engineering tactics. Learning how to identify and thwart potential attacks is the best tool in combating cyber breaches. The REDS platform allows client administrators to monitor each employee’s progress, includes a cyber awareness test and a Certificate of Completion documenting each employee’s successful completion of the course and test.

“The cyber fraudsters have clearly found our industry,” said Christopher Gulotta, founder and CEO of REDS. “Your staff is your front-line defense and your greatest risk vector. Arming them with the tools to safeguard your company is more imperative now than ever before. Real Estate Data Shield brings this web-based employee e-courseware to SoftPro users in an effort to help protect the highly vulnerable escrow funds and non-public information that our industry handles every day for clients.”
