January 9, 2018

Stewart announced that John Magness will provide strategic oversight to Stewart’s U.S. direct operations as an expanded part of his role as chief corporate development officer. Magness joined Stewart in October 2017, bringing deep knowledge and a strong track record from nearly 35 years in title insurance and real estate. Dave Fauth will continue in his role as group president of direct operations and support John in leading the growth strategy.

“John is well-versed in successful direct operations from his industry experience over the course of his career,” said Matt Morris, CEO of Stewart Information Services Corporation. “This announcement allows us to leverage his expertise, combined with the strong foundation Dave has built, to position Stewart for a year of growth in 2018.”

Prior to joining Stewart, Magness served as president at Old Republic Title, where he led all revenue-producing efforts for direct and agency operations, commercial operations, technical service operations and entities in the title group. Before that role, he held a variety of leadership roles including senior vice president of Texas and New Mexico direct operations manager; president of the central title group, and executive vice president and chief operating officer for the title group. Prior to Old Republic, Magness served as executive vice president at the Land America Financial Group where he directed operations across 17 states.

“Stewart is a proven, customer-focused organization and I am excited about the opportunities ahead with direct operations and the other areas of the business,” said Magness. “I look forward to working closely with the stellar group of passionate professionals who sincerely care about delivering for our customers.”
