North American Title Names Chief Underwriting Counsel

July 15, 2014

Valerie Grandin has been named executive vice president and chief underwriting counsel for North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC).

She brings more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience to her position, including commercial acquisition, conveyance, financing and development, as well as title insurance underwriting.

"Valerie's broad-based expertise in commercial title and real estate, in addition to her experience in helping to grow a commercial unit, make her a valuable addition to our staff," said Emilio Fernandez, NATIC president. "Her strength in commercial transactions will allow us to take on even more complex and challenging transactions, as we seek to grow that segment of our business."

Prior to joining NATIC, Grandin was senior underwriting counsel at Attorneys' Title Fund Services, where she provided underwriting assistance to commercial law firms, foreclosure practices and residential title agents. From 1999 to 2007, she handled all phases of commercial and residential real estate for Graham, Builder, Jones, Pratt & Marks LLP (now Burr & Forman) in its Winter Park office. She also managed a real estate caseload for Miami-based Shapo, Freedman & Fletcher for four years prior to that.

"I am honored to be part of the highly respected team at NATIC," Grandin said. "NATIC's expansion across the country as well as the strength of their organic growth over the past few years is impressive. I am inspired and energized by their plans to strengthen and grow their commercial offerings and look forward to being an integral part of that process."

Grandin is a graduate of Rollins College in Winter Park and earned her Juris Doctorate at the University of Miami, School of Law. She is a member of the Florida Bar, CREW Orlando and the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Law Section (RPPTL).
