Michigan-based Title Agency Expands Footprint With Acquisition

January 10, 2013

Best Homes Title Agency, a Farmington Hills, Mich.-based agency, expanded its statewide presence with the acquisition of Grand Rapids-based The Closing Office Title Agency.

With the acquisition, Best Homes Title will now operate the six The Closing Office Title Agency offices in West Michigan, including Grand Rapids, Portland, Grandville, Rockford, Newaygo and Kentwood, joining its Farmington Hills headquarters and office in Saginaw.

Founded in 2006 by Neil Sherman and Peter Schneiderman, both real estate attorneys with Schneiderman & Sherman, as a means to provide further service to current clients, Best Homes Title provides traditional property title services to customers throughout Michigan and currently has 45 employees between its two locations. The addition of The Closing Office team will grow Best Homes Title staff to 60.

“We’re so proud to be further expanding our reach across Michigan with the addition of a Grand Rapids office, but even more so, we are thrilled to be acquiring an agency with as stellar a reputation as The Closing Agency,” said Sherman, Best Home Title’s president. “We enjoy a shared work ethic, growth strategy and experienced professional teams that are committed to providing superior customer service. It’s a win for us, and for our collective current and prospective clients.”

One of the largest title agencies in the state, with divisions dedicated specifically to new purchase/refinance transactions, commercial and bank-owned property expertise, Best Homes Title is underwritten by First American Title Insurance Co., Fidelity National Title Insurance Co. and Old Republic National Title Insurance Co. Commercial and new construction transactions are handled under the recently branded BHT Commercial Division.
