HUD Clarifies Prohibition on Private Transfer Fees

Answering a joint letter sent by the American Land Title Association and National Association of Realtors, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development clarified its position that private transfer fees clearly violate HUD's regulations for FHA-insured mortgages that prohibit legal restrictions on conveyance and require clear marketable title.
