Rhode Island-based Title Agency to Offer Consumer Portal

Rhode Island-based Linear Title & Closing, which provides title services nationally, plans to introduce a web portal allowing consumers who have closed a loan with the company to access their personal databases, including the completed mortgage package, a detailed analysis of the flow of mortgage funds, any rebates due to them and proof of the mortgage recordation.

The company added it will provide an online feature allowing the consumer to quickly and easily communicate with Linear Title & Closing.

Linear Title’s current clients, which include lenders, realtors and servicing companies, already have on-line access to every document, piece of data, wire and check associated with a given transaction. This new portal will provide consumers with the same information and will allow them to ensure that their mortgage transaction and the flow of information were handled appropriately and in a timely manner. It will also act as a document repository for consumers to refer back to and retrieve the documents associated with their transactions.

“We have promoted transparency since the inception of our business in 2005,” said Nick Liuzza, Linear Title’s president. “We believe it is the only way to operate a national title agency. Consumers who close loans with Linear Title will enjoy the benefits of ease of use and instant online access to their information. Of course we are giving consumers the opportunity to opt out so that their information would not be available on line.”

The consumer portal is currently in beta and will be released during the first quarter of 2013. An inbound call center will go live in conjunction with the release of the portal. The call center will handle incoming calls from consumers. Linear Title is an SSAE16 company, which represents an adoption toward more globally accepted accounting principles. The company has just completed its SOC II audit. Its private data transmission, security and electronic storage are audited annually to ensure the highest measure of data protection, the company reported.
