NATIC Appoints Regional Underwriting Counsel

North American Title Insurance Co. (NATIC) has added Justin Tanner as vice president and regional underwriting counsel for North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Mississippi. Tanner will work with NATIC agents throughout those states providing underwriting support as well as training and education.

“Justin has served agents in several settings, including private practice, regional underwriting and national commercial underwriting. His skillset is strong and well-seasoned,” said Valerie Jahn-Grandin, NATIC executive vice president and chief underwriting counsel. “On top of that, he is a great educator and has plans for extensive education for NATIC agents in his region and across the country.”

Before joining NATIC, Tanner held positions as underwriting counsel at both national and regional underwriters. He educates industry professionals on a variety of topics, including state and federal regulations, ALTA Best Practices, the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosure rule, title insurance, fraud, search and examination and escrow practices. Spending nearly 10 years as a real estate attorney in the Memphis, Tennessee area, Tanner served three of those years as managing attorney for a Memphis, law firm, leading its real estate default operations. He earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.

Tanner is currently serving as the immediate past president of the Tennessee Land Title Association and is admitted to practice in all Tennessee courts including the eastern, western and middle U.S. district and bankruptcy courts.
