ALTA launched a public awareness campaign to communicate with target audiences who we are, the value the we provide and the opportunities the industry offers. Here’s a look at the campaign so far and some of the resources that have been developed to help describe the industry. What’s Your Title?

Members of the title insurance industry share traits of superheroes—they have an identity that is a bit of a secret, not many people know who they are, the role they play in safeguarding the homebuying experience, or that they live in the communities they service. ALTA is telling the story of the important work you do each day. We have partnered with members like you to highlight what our members do in their communities so that homebuyers know who you are and how you may help them. We protect consumers and lenders. We also protect communities. That’s the concept behind the What’s Your Title campaign. Here are examples of ads that have been developed.

Our Title Is Protection

This video showcases the industry as the defenders, private investigators, guardians and bodyguards of the American Dream. There are more than 120,000 title insurance professionals who make sure the home consumers buy can’t be claimed by someone else. Share this video to show how we’re strengthening families, neighborhoods and communities by protecting the biggest investment of peoples’ lives.

Title Industry Responds to COVID-19

Title insurance professionals take pride in protecting their customers by ensuring that their home is theirs when they make one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the title insurance industry has stepped up even more to help their communities. Whether its volunteerism or innovation to get deals closed during this time of social distancing, the title industry is here to provide protection, today, tomorrow and forever.

ALTA Members Protect Against Wire Fraud

Wire transfer fraud or “mortgage closings scams” are the number one threat to homebuyers each year, with the FBI reporting nearly 12,000 buyers falling victim to scams and more than $221 million in life savings stolen in 2019 alone. ALTA members go to great lengths to educate and protect consumers from wire transfer fraud when buying and selling properties or refinancing mortgages.

The ALTA Good Deeds Foundation bolsters charitable efforts of members in their communities and helps those adversely impacted by national emergencies such as the current COVID-19 pandemic or with housing needs.
