The American Land Title Association (ALTA) exists to help our members excel in a changing business and regulatory environment. To accomplish our mission, we advocate on behalf of our members’ and the industry’s interests, provide education and information to our members, offer networking opportunities, and create and promote professional industry standards. Taking what we’ve learned from a historic pandemic and significant change in an evolving world, ALTA will focus in 2022 on these strategic priorities to help ALTA members:

Address Threats to Our Customers' Privacy and Investment

  • Educate members about cybersecurity threats to their business, as well as impact of, and compliance with, comprehensive state laws related to data privacy
  • Advance advocacy efforts with legislators and regulators around the importance of data privacy and cybersecurity issues
  • Promote awareness and provide education as to closing scams, threats to funds, and of other real estate fraud risks to consumers

Attract, Develop, and Retain Talent

  • Develop and deliver programming to help members recruit and foster talent that is reflective of both the diversity of the workforce in their markets and their customers
  • Provide education and training to help title industry professionals navigate the rapidly changing workplace environment
  • Promote opportunities available for professional careers in the title insurance and settlement services industry

Drive Real Estate Industry Collaboration

  • Lead and facilitate critical conversations and partnerships across the real estate, title, and lending industries on key marketplace developments, especially where standards or changes are needed for smooth continuation of business
  • Maintain and enhance relationships and understanding of our industry with relevant regulatory agencies and policymakers focused on real estate and housing policy
  • Assist in the development of new and innovative approaches by connecting technologists with industry experts to promote further efficiency and safety in the real estate process

Navigate the Digital Environment

  • Advocate for legislative and regulatory initiatives that further the effectiveness of the industry by advancing industry adoption of digital closings and more effective leveraging of digital processes
  • Provide education and training on how emerging technologies can be used to enhance the consumer experience and improve business practices in the real estate transaction

Serve Our Communities with Purpose

  • Advocate for public policies that expand homeownership affordability and protect against predatory practices undermining homeownership opportunity
  • Promote partnerships and initiatives to effectively address the challenging history of predatory practices including, discriminatory housing covenants, redlining, etc.
  • Support title professionals' investment in their communities, through the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation, to serve and strengthen the neighborhoods in which they live and work

Tell Our Story

  • Communicate with target audiences describing who we are, the value of title insurance, and the opportunities the industry provides
  • Utilize new tools, data, and research to help the industry speak with one unified voice to communicate the value of the title insurance product and to explain the importance and relevance of our advocacy efforts
  • Facilitate opportunities for ALTA members to serve as subject matter experts on title-related issues for lawmakers, regulators, and standards setting efforts
