Minimum Standard Detail Requirements and Accuracy Standards For ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys
As a benefit to the public, the survey profession, title insurers, and abstracters, the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM), and the National Society of Professional Surveyors, Inc. have worked with ALTA to create general standards. These concise pamphlets summarize criteria for standards specific to title insurance matters, especially when title insurance companies are asked to insure title to land without exception.

These publications present accuracy standards that address Positional Uncertainty and Minimum Angle, Distance and Closure Requirements for ALTA/ASCM Land Title Surveys. The accompanying table relates to urban, suburban, rural and mountain/marshland classifications.
