ALTA®'s Federal Conference 2008 Wraps Up

The final day of the 2008 Federal Conference wrapped up with a Congressional Breakfast on Capitol Hill. Several representatives showed up to enjoy breakfast with their constituents and discuss the important issues that affect their districts.
Jay Brinkmann, Vice President of Research and Economics at the Mortgage Bankers Association gave a realistic view of the housing economy in several areas of the United States and fielded questions from members about what to expect from the housing economy in the future.
Representative Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania spoke to members about the upcoming economic stimulus package and FHA Reform. Then Representative Tom Feeney of Florida, a former title industry professional, reassured attendees that he and other members of Congress understand the current position of the title industry and are working for effective economic reform.
The final session of the Federal Conference was held in the Eisenhower Room at the Capitol Hill Club and featured The Honorable Brian D. Montgomery from HUD, who talked to members about the FHA effort and initiatives to help homeowners avoid foreclosure and keep their homes by working with FHA Loan Counselors.
