The Agents and Abstracters Forum provides an unparalleled opportunity for small agents and abstracters to meet with your peers and freely exchange ideas, experience and opinions on issues that affect your business today. The agenda is developed by title agents, for title agents. The discussion flows freely since there are only agents in attendance. Come and join in the discussion of major issues of the day that affect ALTA members. As always, spouses/guests are most welcome.
There are five opportunities for you to participate in these Forums this year. They will be in Oklahoma City, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Boston and Minneapolis. On the evening prior to each meeting, there will be an optional "pay for your own" group dinner onsite at the hotel. The Forum will begin on at 8:30 a.m. with a continental breakfast and the meeting will start at 9 a.m., with a working lunch, concluding at 4 p.m., so those who are traveling can get home that evening. Each Forum will have a different speak for the morning session, and the afternoon will be filled with a roundtable discussion on the topics of interest as selected by the attendees. These topics have included the following recently: competition in a small market; using social media to drive business; hiring and firing issues; the effects of cancelled orders in profits; and the CFPB’s proposed combined mortgage disclosures. These topics change each time so those in attendance get to discuss what’s most important to them.
Business casual attire is appropriate throughout this event.
September 16th – Boston, MA
Michael Volin of the Title Resource Group will be discussing physical privacy and security. Does your company have a clean-desk policy? How do you manage off-site employees? This session will address the important steps you can take toward satisfying privacy obligations and how to develop detailed policies for handling nonpublic personal information.
September 23rd – Minneapolis, MN
CFPB Bulletins, Rules and Regulations for Lenders: How they may impact your title operations and business strategies will be addressed by Francis X. Riley III, Esq from Saul Ewing. This Seminar will describe primary Dodd Frank Act related regulation of bank and non-bank lenders that have been or will be promulgated by CFBP or other regulatory entities, which may impact day-to-day title operations and longer term business strategies and relationships.
The official car rental company for these meetings is Avis. To make reservations, call 800-331-1600 and refer to the ALTA discount number D833367 or visit the Avis website and enter the promotional code there.
You can register by clicking here. Each primary attendee must be registered separately; one person cannot register another from the same company. Only guests can be added to a primary registrant’s registration. The Registration fee for each of the Agents and Abstracters Forums is $50 for all attendees.
If you must cancel ALTA requires a minimum of five days business days’ notice of cancellation. Cancellation Notice should be sent via e-mail to Lauren Dollerschell at lauren@alta.org.
