ALTA Policy Statement on Improved Public Feedback About CFPB (adopted February 2014)
The American Land Title Association supports improved public feedback about CFPB policy statements, guidance and bulletins to better facilitate industry’s interpretation and implementation of CFPB policy.

ALTA Policy Statement on the Small Business Advisory Board at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (adopted February 2014)
The American Land Title Association supports legislation creating a Small Business Advisory Board at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

ALTA Policy Statement on the Right to Readable Public Records (adopted February 2014)
The American Land Title Association supports the public's right to readable public records without watermarks of any kind when the public acquires a copy of a public record from the custodian, however such copy is acquired. Further, the custodian of the public records, or its agents, shall comply with state recording statutes and not alter, modify or redact except as otherwise provided by law.

ALTA Policy Statement on Real Estate Closings (adopted February 2013)
“It is the position of the American Land Title Association that the single best way to protect consumers in a real estate and mortgage transaction is to maintain the traditional role of the trusted, third-party settlement agent at closing.”

ALTA Policy Statement on Public Right to Inspect (adopted October 18, 2012)
“The American Land Title Association supports the public right to have access to inspect and copy a public record or document in the local public record custodian's office.”

ALTA Policy Statement on Mortgage Servicing Standards (adopted February 2012)
“The American Land Title Association supports state laws that: 1) ensure the timely release of secured interests in real property by mortgage servicers; 2) provide for the conclusiveness of trustees’ and sheriffs’ deeds; and, 3) provide strong protections for Bona Fide Purchasers.”

ALTA Policy Statement on Encumbrances (adopted March 2010)
“ALTA opposes covenants that do not run with the land, unduly burden the property, or unreasonably restrain the transferability of real property. Such covenants are not legitimate property rights because they do not directly benefit property owners.”

ALTA Policy Statement on Public Record Reproduction (adopted June 27, 2009)
“It is the position of the American Land Title Association that the cost to obtain a reproduction of a public record or document in any format should be the public record custodian's actual out-of-pocket cost to produce the reproduction.”
