ALTA Applauds Introduction of the Housing for the 21st Century Act

Washington, D.C., Dec. 16, 2025 — The American Land Title Association (ALTA) issued the following statement regarding the Housing for the 21st Century Act:

ALTA applauds the introduction of the bipartisan Housing for the 21st Century Act, legislation designed to modernize federal housing policy and expand access to safe, sustainable homeownership. The title industry plays a critical role in protecting homebuyers and ensuring the reliability of real estate transactions, and ALTA appreciates the leadership of House Financial Services Committee Chairman French Hill (R-Ark.), Ranking Member Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), Housing and Insurance Subcommittee Chairman Mike Flood (R-Neb.) and Ranking Member Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.) in prioritizing policies that address housing supply, affordability and market stability.

“The Housing for the 21st Century Act reflects a meaningful step toward strengthening the housing ecosystem for today’s buyers and future generations,” said ALTA CEO Chris Morton. “By promoting responsible access to credit, supporting housing supply and modernizing key housing programs, this legislation helps ensure that more Americans have a clear path to homeownership.”
