ALTA Seeks Industry Feedback on Modernization of Endorsement Forms

ALTA seeks industry feedback on proposed updates to 66 ALTA Endorsement forms and the planned decertification of 39 endorsements as part of its ongoing effort to maintain and modernize its policy forms collection.

The ALTA Board of Governors approved two recommendations from the ALTA Forms Committee on Oct. 13. The recommendations include updating 66 endorsements, primarily from the 2006 series, to align with the current 2021 series standards and decertifying 39 endorsements that are no longer required under the current collection.

The proposed updates include a combination of substantive and style revisions.

Industry Comment Period Open Through Dec. 10

ALTA is inviting members, policy forms licensees and other industry customers to review the proposed changes and submit comments before the forms are finalized.

The forms are available for download at alta.org/policy-forms in the “For Public Comment | Not Final – Not Published” section. The comment period runs through Dec. 10. Submit comments to [email protected].

The list of endorsements proposed for decertification is also available in the public comment section.

Following the comment period, the ALTA Forms Committee will review submitted feedback and determine whether additional changes are needed. The committee currently plans to publish the revised endorsement forms and decertify the identified endorsements in early 2027, subject to the results of the review.

Forms Committee Process

ALTA policy forms are developed by the ALTA Forms Committee and approved by the ALTA Board of Governors. The public comment process gives ALTA Members, ALTA Policy Forms Licensees and industry customers an opportunity to review and provide feedback before final publication.

ALTA forms are generally made available for customer convenience. Parties may agree to different terms in individual transactions, and use of the forms is voluntary unless required by law.

The forms are copyrighted, and use is restricted to ALTA Policy Forms Licensees, including ALTA Members, in good standing as of the date of use. Permission to reprint published forms may be requested by contacting [email protected].
