ALTA Reports Q2 2026 Market Share and Title Premium Volume

The title insurance industry generated $5.3 billion in title insurance premiums during the second quarter of 2026. This compared to $4.5 billion during the same period a year ago, according to ALTA’s latest Market Share Analysis.

“Second-quarter premium volume increased nearly 15% from a year ago, driven largely by continued strength in commercial real estate transactions,” said ALTA CEO Chris Morton. “As communities across the country invest in manufacturing, industrial facilities and other major developments, title insurance remains a vital part of the process. Commercial projects depend on certainty around ownership, access and property rights, and title professionals provide the expertise and protection that help investors and lenders move forward with confidence.”

Total operating income was up 2.9% during the second quarter of 2025 compared to Q2 2025. The industry continued its strong financial position with total assets of $12.0 billion, while the statutory surplus was at $5.4 billion and statutory reserves were at $5.8 billion.

For the first six months of the year, title premium volume was up 16.1% compared to the first six months of 2025. The title insurance industry paid nearly $327 million in claims during the first six months of 2026. This is down from about $336 million in claims paid during the same period a year ago.
