Title Resources Group (TRG) named Cheryl Cowherd as vice president and deputy chief underwriting counsel. In this role, she will provide underwriting support and guidance to TRG title agents throughout the Central Plains region, including Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

“Cheryl is one of the most respected underwriting professionals in the title industry, bringing decades of experience, deep legal expertise and a passion for agent education,” said Mickey Godat, chief underwriting counsel for TRG. “Her extensive underwriting background, strong industry relationships and commitment to helping agents succeed make her an exceptional addition to the team. We are thrilled to welcome her to TRG.”

Cowherd joins TRG with nearly 40 years of experience in the title insurance and real estate industry. She has served in a variety of leadership, underwriting, escrow and agency roles, providing counsel and guidance on complex residential and commercial transactions, risk management, regulatory compliance and underwriting operations. Most recently, she served as senior underwriting counsel for the Central States region at a national title insurance underwriter, where she provided executive-level underwriting authority, supported national agency operations and implemented best practices, risk management and professional development initiatives.

“Throughout my career, I have been passionate about helping title agents navigate risk, solve complex underwriting issues, and better serve their customers,” Cowherd said. “TRG’s reputation for combining strong underwriting expertise with an agent-first approach made this an exciting opportunity.”

A frequent industry speaker and educator, Cowherd has presented numerous continuing education seminars and webinars for state land title associations and the American Land Title Association. She currently serves with the American Land Title Association (ALTA) as chair of the Title Counsel Work Group and chair of the Education Committee.
