ALTA Updates Three TIRS State Compliance Guides

April 14, 2026

ALTA’s TIRS State Compliance Guides contain state-by-state regulatory and local practice material for entities establishing real estate title and closing operations. This resource is available for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Updates were recently made to the guides for Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.

Idaho: The updates include edits to policy forms and good funds requirements, and added new sections on homestead and foreign-owned lands. Editor of the Idaho TIRS is Matt Carey, underwriting counsel of Title Resources Group
Montana: The updates include citation references, replacing outdated attachments, and where appropriate, substitution of links to online documents Editor of the Montana TIRS is Matt Ryden, underwriting counsel of Westcor Land Title Insurance Co.
Wyoming: The updates include protection afforded by homestead rights and add mortgage documents in the section on instruments of conveyance. Editor of the Wyoming TIRS is Richard Bramhall, chief underwriting counsel of Westcor Land Title Insurance Co.
