  In March 2024, the Biden administration announced a Title Acceptance Pilot, which waives the requirement for lender’s title insurance on certain refinances. ALTA Updates Two TIRS State Compliance Guides

January 8, 2026

ALTA’s TIRS State Compliance Guides contain state-by-state regulatory and local practice material for entities establishing real estate title and closing operations. This resource is available for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Updates were recently made to the guides for Louisiana and Ohio.

Louisiana: The updates include recent changes to Louisiana real estate and title insurance law as of December 2025. Additionally, this update includes information on recently enacted Louisiana legislation, such as remote online notarization (RON), foreign adversary restrictions, records retention and e-recording. Editors of the Louisiana TIRS are Alvin C. Miester III Esq. and Jason Sumich Esq. of Sher Garner Cahill Richter Klein & Hilbert LLC.
Ohio: The updates includes incorporating changes made in the Ohio Recording Modernization Act of 2024. Editor of the Ohio TIRS is Kelly A. Spengler NTP OLTP, regional underwriting counsel for Westcor Land Title Insurance Co.
