FTC to Vacate Attempt to Ban Noncompetes

September 11, 2025

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) voluntarily dismissed its appeal of court rulings in two states prohibiting the agency from enforcing its Final Rule banning noncompete agreements nationwide. The move signals the end of the FTC’s efforts to ban noncompetes through formal rulemaking.
