HDEP International Launches Title Plant Health Check Service

September 2, 2025

HDEP International, an ALTA Elite Provider, launched a title plant health check service designed to help title companies assess and improve the accuracy of their core databases.

The tool also helps companies ensure they are ready to leverage new artificial intelligence (AI) tools and reduce operational risks.

According to HDEP, title plants often contain errors accumulated over many years, including missing documents, indexing errors, broken title chains, unreleased liens and others. Errors in the title plant can lead to increased manual work for title examiners, higher liability claims and a decrease in productivity.

“We have been building title plants for over 40 years, and we understand where errors occur and how to find them,” said Joie Yuen, a representative for HDEP International. “As the title industry begins to adopt AI for tasks like title examination, the quality of the data becomes increasingly important. The old maxim ‘garbage in, garbage out’ has never been more relevant.”

The new service initially provides a report identifying data errors, including:

  • Missed legal descriptions in multi-legal documents
  • Missing names in property index documents
  • Incorrect dates and document numbers
  • Breaks in the chain of title and many other errors

Once the errors are corrected, according to HDEP, title companies can achieve benefits such as more productive title examiners, a reduction in liability claims and perhaps an enhanced company valuation.
