First-ever ALTA SPRINGBOARD Ready to Take Learning, Networking to New Heights

March 7, 2017

Nearly 350 title and settlement professionals from across the country will participate in the first ALTA SPRINGBOARD, which will be held March 8-9 in Fort Worth, Texas.

This new, live-event experience offers more time sharing and learning and less time sitting and listening, while discussing key issues that can help drive company success and propel careers to a higher level.

“Attendees will get to experience a one-of-a-kind, innovative event,” said Michelle Korsmo, ALTA’s chief executive officer. “Gone are the structured, lecture-style general sessions. Instead, we’re providing collaborative, engaging ‘Ideas Festivals’ similar to TED Talks. These discussions will provoke additional ideas on creative ways to tackle challenges and take advantage of opportunities. We are confident that attendees will walk away with practical ideas for how to improve their businesses and advance their personal careers.”

The conference kicks off the morning of March 8 with a charity event to welcome attendees. Sponsored by Fidelity National Title Group, attendees will decorate pairs of Tom’s Shoes to give back to a local Fort Worth charity, Presbyterian Night Shelter.

From there, the schedule moves into the meat of the agenda with the first Ideas Festival. ALTA President Daniel D. Mennenoh ITP, NTP (president of H.B. Wilkinson Title Co.) and his daughter, Devon Irby (chief compliance officer of H.B. Wilkinson Title Co.), will talk about how to build and maintain a successful, dedicated and engaged team to help companies increase productivity and create a stronger bottom line. Following the inspirational introduction, attendees will engage in roundtable discussion "Knowledge Communities" to discuss strategies for how to find, hire and retain talented employees.

Following that, the second Ideas Festival will delve into core industry values. ALTA President-elect Steven Day NTP (executive vice president of Fidelity National Title Group) and ALTA Senior Counsel Steve Gottheim will discuss how to identify and instill the values that are important for running a title operation in a way that empowers your staff and enhances your brand. Fellow colleagues will share input on how they’ve empowered their staff for success.

The third and final Ideas Festival will be held on March 9 and focus on connecting with customers. Modifying processes to meet the needs of today’s customer can be challenging. Linda Grahovec ITP, IEP, NTP, vice president of sales, marketing and communications for Fidelity National Title Group, and Betsy Russo, managing member of MCP Title Services, will offer advice on what it takes to acquire new business in this changing market. Attendees will be challenged to challenge you to think about how they can meet the needs of millennials, Generation Xers and baby boomers in the market. Other entrepreneurs also will share strategies on how to improve the customer experience, so you can implement steps to keep orders coming in the door and deliver a great customer experience before, during and after the closing.

In addition to the Ideas Festivals, attendees will be able to attend several career advancement talks. Topics for these talks include:

  • Building Collaboration
  • How to Be a Good Manager
  • How to Deliver a Good Presentation
  • How to Move Up in Your Company
  • Leadership Development
  • Overcoming Barriers
  • Resolving Conflict in the Workplace
  • Time Management Skills
  • Women in Leadership

Finally, ALTA SPRINGBOARD attendees will be able to enhance their networking ability with Brain Dating. This peer-learning hub allows attendees to complete a profile, make online connections and schedule meetings (Brain Dates) with fellow participants to discuss specific items.

“This is a great way to connect with others who have a level of expertise on a specific topic that you want to learn about,” Mennenoh said. “It also allows you to provide your own expertise to someone who may want to learn from you. This will be an easy way to meet and network with others—even for the introverts.”
