Freddie Mac Names Pricewaterhousecoopers As Its Independent Public Accountants

McLean, VA - Freddie Mac (NYSE:FRE) today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers ("PWC") as Freddie Mac's independent public accountants for the year ending December 31, 2002. PWC replaces Arthur Andersen LLP ("Arthur Andersen"). Arthur Andersen has provided Freddie Mac with high quality audit service since 1970, and Freddie Mac will continue to benefit from Arthur Andersen's knowledge and expertise through an ongoing consulting relationship.
