Johnny's Half Shell: Using organic produce, poultry, meat and sustainable seafood, Johnny's continues to delight Washington diners with its seafood specialties and strong drinks. With lively jazz and blues playing in the background, three happy hours Monday through Friday and complimentary parking nightly, the Half Shell is rocking the Hill.
Buddha-Bar: Having a reputation of luxury, glamour and night life, the Buddha-Bar is also a modern and up to date restaurant. Asian Fusion cuisine is their leading tune. This means that in the menu, guests will be able to find dishes from Indian, Chinese, Japanese and Thai cuisine adapted for the U.S.
Charlie Palmer Steak: Under the direction of Executive Chef Matt Hill, the menu stars the best American artisan beef cuts like an aged Angus Rib-eye "Cowboy" steak as well as updated seafood classics such as the Iced Shellfish Platter of lobster, shrimp, king crab, and oysters. Underscoring the patriotic menu, Palmer's innovative wine cube - which appears to be floating on water - features 3,500 bottles of exclusively American wine featuring over 600 selections.
Wednesday, March 16 Dine Arounds:
Acqua Al 2: Located in the heart of the historic Eastern Market in Southeast Washington, D.C., this authentic Italian restaurant's cuisine is presented much in the same way as it is in Florence. There are a variety of Insalata (Salads), Primi (First courses, pasta and rice dishes), Secondi (Entrées), and homemade Dolci (desserts). The restaurant's specialties include its "Assaggio di Insalata, di Primi, di Formaggio, and di Dolci." Each of these dishes offers a sampling of several dishes in one.
Art & Soul: Enjoy this chic setting to meet and connect while enjoying "food for the soul." With celebrated two-time James Beard-Award winning Chef Art Smith as chef/owner, this 221-seat dining destination serves modern, regional cuisine with southern accents. Chef Smith is well known for being Oprah Winfrey's long-time personal chef and has made several television appearances, including Top Chef DC and Top Chef Masters, TLC's BBQ Pitmasters and Iron Chef America. Signature dishes include: shrimp and grits with Anson Mills cheddar grits, crispy bacon and chow-chow; spice rubbed ahi tuna with fried green tomatoes and sour pickle relish; the house cured salmon hoecake, a cornmeal flatbread served with dill crème fraiche and caper berries; rockfish served with andouille sausage-seafood gumbo and dirty rice and Art's famous fried chicken.
Capitol City Brewing Co.: The restaurant's brewers identify and use only the highest quality hops, fresh yeast and select malt to brew many of the world's great ales, lagers and pilsners. Come enjoy a cold pint and match it to one of the many menu selections tailored to the brews served. The chefs have developed an excellent menu of regional cuisine using ingredients cultivated in the Mid-Atlantic area and delivered fresh daily. Many of the items were developed specifically with its beer in mind and the chefs have used the restaurant's beer in many of the dishes in ways sure to delight.
