About ALTA's Government Affairs and Grassroots Programs

ALTA's grassroots network works directly with the government affairs department to ensure that ALTA's positions are heard by Congress and government agencies before they enact legislation and regulations. ALTA members visit their Members of Congress each year during the ALTA Federal Conference in Washington; invite Members of Congress to visit their offices; and send letters to Members on ALTA issues.

TIPAC: The Title Industry Political Action Committee

TIPAC is a vital component of our government affairs program. TIPAC allows us to educate Members of Congress about our industry. A political action committee is made up of like-minded individuals who make a personal contribution to advocate their industry. TIPAC must obtain prior written approval before requesting a contribution. To contribute and support TIPAC, you can submit an online donation by clicking here.

Alternatively, to download and print a PDF version of the submission form, click here (16kb PDF).

TIPAC partners with ALTA during both the ALTA Federal Conference in the spring each year and the ALTA Annual Convention in the fall, sponsoring speakers with unparralled insight into the political, legislative, and regulatory process. TIPAC also hosts the Annual Michael F. Wille TIPAC Golf Tournament.

ALTA Members can learn more on the TIPAC Home Page.

Become A Legislative Contact

In the title industry, success depends on company employees, financial ability, technology and customer service. In politics, the same principles apply. A good politician depends on dedicated people, communication, technology, and adequate campaign funds to be successful. In order to make every day decisions in Congress, elected officials need advice on legislation from informed constituents. Thus, your position in the title industry makes you uniquely qualified to offer your expertise on a wide range of issues affecting the business and the community.

ALTA has developed the Legislative Contact program to help inform legislators about the title industry and the issues that are important to you. If you would like to join this part of ALTA's grassroots network, please take time to learn more and become a Legislative Contact.

State Legislative Reports

Is your state considering legislation that would affect the title industry? If so, chances are good that another state has considered or enacted similar legislation. State Legislative Reports are a resource provided by members of ALTA's State Legislative and Regulatory Action Committee (SLRAC) throughout the year. You can review the reports anytime by visiting the State Legislative Reports Archive. The archive contains reports from 1998 to the present.
