The Broadmoor is the pinnacle meeting location in North America with 700 rooms and suites, 185,000 square feet of flexible event space, 15 restaurants, cafés and lounges, three golf courses, a tennis club and world-class spa.
Outside the lush 3,000-acres of the hotel, ALTA has planned several tours to make your time at the Annual Convention even more eventful. Here’s a glance at the scheduled tours:
United States Olympic Complex & Garden of the Gods Tour
No one should miss this exciting and unique tour that provides a first-hand look at how athletes train for the Olympic Games. You will watch a brief inspirational film that highlights some of the greatest moments in Olympic history and then take a guided tour of the complex with a USOC Ambassador, who will provide you with entertaining and educational insights into the Olympic movement and what it really takes to send American athletes to the Olympic Games. Leaving the OTC, you will head to the Garden of the Gods, which was once a prime hunting ground for the Uncompahgre Indians.
Pikes Peak Cog Railway
One of the most popular tours, you can take an unforgettable trip to the 14,110-foot summit of Pikes Peak! You can sit back, relax and take in the splendors of Colorado as the highest cog railway in the world takes you through hidden valleys, past groves of quaking aspens and over the tundra at timberline. Colorado wildlife and panoramic fields of wildflowers are all around as the modern Swiss train heads for the summit. Once on the summit, you will see the same unparalleled vistas which inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write America the Beautiful!
United States Air Force Academy & Garden of the Gods Tour
The USAFA is set against the Rampart Range of the Rocky Mountains, providing a beautiful setting for this 18,000-acre property that house over 4,000 cadets. You will see an authentic B-52 that served a tour in Vietnam, along with the world-famous Academy Chapel. The Academy is the most visited of all man-made attractions in the state of Colorado. Leaving the Academy, you will head southwest to the Garden of the Gods, which was once a prime hunting ground for the Uncompahgre Indians.
Experience the thrill of meeting wolves by taking a scenic drive into the mountains for a visit to a wolf sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to wolves, wolf dogs, foxes and coyotes, many of whom were rescued from captive situations. Because these animals were born in captivity, they never learned the hunting skills necessary to survival in the wild. You will walk in small groups with a knowledgeable guide who will introduce you to individual animals in their outdoor environment, while also educating you about the importance of preserving our diminishing wildlife.
This mountain horseback ride offers a beautiful trek through the scenic Pikes Peak National Forest. Knowledgeable guides will escort guests along beautiful trails that cross old mining claims, and provide a variety of mountain views from deep forest to panoramic vistas overlooking the Front Range. Deer, elk, buffalo and other animals are often seen along the way. Horseback riding is a fantastic way to experience the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountains!
