Policy Forms News!
After a comment period, eight policy and endorsement forms have been finally approved as new or revised ALTA forms, effective 1/1/08. Few comments were received and the only changes adopted, suggested by the California Land Title Association’s Forms and Practices Committee, were considered sufficiently non-substantive, technical, typographical, or designed to promote internal forms language consistency so as not to require republication.
In addition to the eight previously proposed forms published for comment are two additional forms where technical or conforming changes were also made and are being featured at this time in order to highlight the fact of those changes. Again, the nature of those changes were not considered sufficiently substantive to warrant use of the formal forms adoption process. Consequently, the revision dates on the Short Form Residential Loan Policy and ALTA Endorsement Form 21 (Creditors’ Rights) have not been changed. However, those responsible for printing and distribution of
forms, regulatory approval, or software implementation should update their efforts using these new versions. As always, we recommend such personnel always check the ALTA Policy Forms Online page for the latest changes in forms prior to filing, printing, or posting.

Welcome to the ALTA Policy Forms Online! This service provides access to Basic Policies, Commitment Forms, Endorsement Forms, Reinsurance Agreements, and Related Documents like Closing Protection Letters, Arbitration Rules, and the Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys. Some of these forms are available to any interested party, but many are available only to subscribers and are marked with the [S] symbol to indicate "Subscriber Only" access.
Effective June 16, 2006, ALTA approved new policy forms and a new collection of endorsements and delayed decertifying older forms for one year, which has now passed. The older forms, which are no longer recognized as official ALTA forms, have been moved to new "Archived" sections towards the bottom of these listings. These forms will continue to be listed because the prior language continues to exist and individual insurers have these forms in the marketplace. In addition, customers may request or regulatory approval may mandate the use of some of these forms.
