North American Title Names General Counsel

North American Title Group has appointed Jefferson “Jeff” Howeth as senior vice president, general counsel. Howeth brings a 20-year background in real estate and corporate law to this position, in addition to experience in securities, finance, and executive management of legal and compliance functions of title insurance underwriters and agencies.
“We are excited to have Jeff join our team as general counsel,” said Tom Fischer, president of North American Title Group. “The combination of Jeff’s high ethical standards, extensive experience in national title and underwriting matters, and deep experience in the business of title insurance through numerous business cycles will prove to be an invaluable asset to our company as we continue to expand our businesses over the coming years.”
Howeth most recently served as vice president, deputy general counsel of PGP Title Inc. and Premier Land Title Insurance Co., subsidiaries of PulteGroup Inc., which provide title insurance and escrow and settlement services to new home customers. Previous to that, he had served as senior vice president, general counsel of Commerce Title and Closing Services. Howeth also spent nine years with Centex Corp., working as assistant general counsel of Centex Homes and Centex Corp., and later holding the position of executive vice president, general counsel of Centex Financial Services LLC.

A magna cum laude graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and a cum laude graduate of the Washington and Lee University School of Law, Howeth began his career working for major law firms in Tulsa and Dallas before moving to the corporate sector.
