North American Title Insurance Company is a seasoned title insurance underwriter that has been helping customers achieve the American dream of homeownership for more than 50 years. In the past several years, we have become known as the “underwriter next door, because our associates are always easy to reach and our processes are, at all times, quick and straightforward. Our agency application process is fast and transparent for qualified agents. NATIC offers a one-hour underwriting response guarantee that is unparallelled in our industry. In addition, we value our agents based on their title industry knowledge and experience, not just on profits alone.

I am writing to ask you to send a letter to HUD supporting my concerns that HUD’s regulatory proposal of July 29, 2002 to change the RESPA disclosure requirements will hurt small business in your district, in particular title and settlement agents. The HUD proposed rule will also not benefit consumers, as they will not be able to assess the price of services in a package. My constituent has submitted comments to HUD asking that you consider the effects on small businesses, the consumer and their industry, and that HUD should provide a separate title package. I hope that you will do so in your final rule.
