ALTA Members Offered Discounts to Webinars Addressing New Survey Standards

April 12, 2011

ALTA members can take advantage of discounts to two upcoming webinars that will address the new ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey Standards, which became effective Feb. 23, 2011.

Both webinars will be hosted by Gary Kent, integrated services director for The Schneider Corporation, a surveying, GIS and consulting engineering firm based in Indianapolis. He is chair of the National Society of Professional Surveyors' (NSPS) committee on the ALTA/ACSM Standards and is liaison to NSPS for the American Land Title Association.

The first webinar titled ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys: New 2011 Standards For Survey Professionals – Webinar, will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. ET on April 18.

The webinar will outline the purpose of an ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey, explain the process of requesting an ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey, explain how other survey standards and standards of care relate and explain the concept behind the measurement standard (Relative Positional Precision),

The webinar also will outline the records research required and who is responsible for it, outline the items required to be gathered as part of the field work, identify what needs to appear on the plat or map, explain the ALTA/ACSM certification and outline the optional Table A items.

This program is an introduction to the new 2011 Minimum Standard Detail Requirements for ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, which will have been recently adopted by ALTA and NSPS. In addition to many changes, this version is the first complete rewrite of the standards since they were first adopted in 1962.
