October 19, 2021

Doma recently added Steven Presley as Florida underwriting counsel to assist with underwriting decisions in the state.

In this role, he will provide legal guidance to associates, independent and affiliated agents, support Doma’s Florida title and examination production and independent agency teams, and develop and present educational courses and trainings on state and national legal and underwriting issues.

Presley’s title insurance and real estate industry experience spans underwriting and agency, closing and escrow department management, title commitment, survey and plat review, real estate law practice and litigation at the federal and state levels.

“Steven has such varied experience in all components of the title industry in Florida,” said Valerie Jahn-Grandin, Doma’s executive vice president and chief underwriting counsel. “His experience allows him to support our agents better, faster and in a more frictionless manner than our competitors. He knows how to help agents close even their most challenging transactions in a seamless manner. He understands their business concerns and is a great partner in helping each agent meet and exceed their customers’ expectations.”

After beginning his career in private practice focused on the areas of health law, trust and estates, guardianship, probate and medical malpractice, Presley went on to establish and manage the real estate closing department of a South Florida law firm. He then served as underwriting counsel at a large national underwriter.

“My diverse background makes me uniquely qualified to assist all of Doma’s agents in assessing risk and insuring title,” Presley said. “My favorite part of the job is knowing that ultimately, I have helped people access the many benefits of homeownership, empowering them to build financial security and use their investments to pursue their personal goals and interests.”
