Knight Barry Title Makes Third Acquisition in Florida

Wisconsin-based Knight Barry Title (KBT) is adding more offices in the Florida panhandle after making another acquisition.

H&S Title and Escrow, which has offices in Destin and Panama City Beach, is the latest Florida title company to become part of Knight Barry Title’s Florida operation. Owners Vicki and Mike Hoover and staff will stay on as part of the deal. The Hoovers opened H&S Title in 2004. One of their goals is to help Knight Barry Title continue to expand in the area.

“We’ve always had visions of growing along the Emerald Coast and now Mike and I think we can make that a reality with the help of our new KBT friends,” said Vicki Hoover. “(We) look forward to the potential we have with the backing of a bigger company that has nearby sister offices that we can reach out to when needed.”

As part of the agreement, both H&S locations will immediately become part of the Knight Barry Title brand. However, Hoover said her customers should expect the same family atmosphere they have grown accustomed when it comes closing their transactions.

“Joining KBT gives our team more time to build customer relationships and allow us to participate more in the communities that have been so great to us over the years,” she said.

The H&S Title purchase is Knight Barry Title’s third acquisition in the Sunshine State this year. The other two KBT Florida locations are in Pensacola and Crestview. In addition to Florida, Knight Barry has offices in Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota.

“We’ve picked up three very good companies this year,” said Craig Haskins, chief operating officer for Knight Barry. “None of them were struggling—all of them were profitable—and we’re very excited they are part of KBT going forward. We’ve only been in Florida for eight months, but I feel very comfortable evaluating agencies. I think we have a lot more credibility with agents—now that people can see that we’re growing in Florida and doing well.”
