Take Action to Help Fix TRID

U.S. Reps. Dennis Ross (R-FL) and Ed Perlmutter (D-CO) have drafted a bipartisan letter supporting ALTA’s efforts to fix the inaccurate disclosure of title insurance premiums on the TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosures (TRID).
The industry is struggling with unanswered questions and needs more formal guidance about how to comply with this complicated regulation. The rule requires consumers in over half of the United States be provided inaccurate information about their title insurance costs when buying a home. Consumers deserve clear information about their title insurance costs on the Closing Disclosure required under TRID.
Title professionals are encouraged to ask their representatives to sign the Ross-Perlmutter letter. The letter would encourage the CFPB to change the inaccurate disclosure of title insurance premiums.
