ALTA to Move Into New Headquarters

December 12, 2014

ALTA has served its members faithfully, diligently and frugally from the same office space for nearly as long as the existence of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act. On Dec. 22, 1974, President Ford signed RESPA into law and it went into effect in June 1975.

Later that decade, ALTA moved into an office at 1828 L Street NW. While updating the office a few times, ALTA maintained the same headquarters over the past 40 years.

A new office space became essential, however, to meet the needs of a budding membership base. Since growing substantially over the past five years, ALTA’s membership has nearly doubled since 2001.

After researching and investigating several options, and in consultation with the association’s Executive Committee, ALTA opted to have an office custom built at 1800 M Street NW, Suite 300 South. The space was built with landlord-provided tenant improvement money. ALTA staff will begin working from the new office on Monday, Dec. 15. Click here for a street view of the office.

Due to the move, ALTA’s website, database and HomeClosing101 will be unavailable from 12 p.m. ET, Friday, Dec. 12, until 9 a.m., Monday, Dec. 14. ALTA's phones and email also will be down during this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.
