Enhanced Public Data And Recent Housing Goal Performance

The February edition of "U.S. Housing Market Conditions" (USHMC), published by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), describes and analyzes data from the Government Sponsored Enterprise Public Use Database (GSE Database).

The GSE Database describes home mortgage loans purchased by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two principal GSEs operating in the secondary home mortgage market. The Database consists of single-family and multifamily data sets that provide information on key borrower, mortgage, and property characteristics.

For example, the single-family data set includes information such as the race, gender, income, and first-time/repeat buyer status of the borrower(s); unpaid principal balance of the mortgage; mortgage purpose; census tract location of the property; and information on whether the property securing the mortgage is owner-occupied or owned by an investor.
