Stewart Title Acquires Midwest Title of Naples, Fla.

February 3, 2005

HOUSTON, /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Midwest Title Co. of Naples, Fla., has been acquired by Stewart Title Co. Existing management and staff will remain with the company, with the exception of owner R.M. "Dick" Vogel, who is retiring.

"I have been acquainted with the management of Stewart Title for at least 40 years," said Vogel. "Stewart Title has always been the company that I admired most in the industry for the way that they deal with their customers, employees and their social obligations to the communities they serve.

"While I am sad to be out of the ownership of Midwest Title after over 30 years of building the company, I know that the staff under the management of Jimmy Vogel, Chris Wohlbrandt and Betty Huff will continue to give our customers the same excellent service they have always counted on," said Vogel.

"It's the best of both worlds," said President Chris Wohlbrandt. "Midwest Title will still enjoy its proud heritage, but will now benefit from Stewart's technological enhancements, employee benefits, and progressive company culture.

"A local industry leader since opening its doors in 1971, Midwest Title needed an avenue for expansion and Stewart Title provides that ability," added Wohlbrandt.

"We're excited about this opportunity to grow our market share in such a strategic location as Naples," said Harold Hickman, group president, Stewart Title Co. "Midwest has been a leader in this market for a long time, with the reputation of being a quality agency.
