Through this one-year subscription, nonmembers can purchase access to all seven of the Best Practices Assessment Readiness Guides. The Assessment Readiness Guides can be used to help companies determine whether they are in compliance with each pillar of ALTA's Best Practices. The guides ask you to assess and test the policies and procedures you have in place for each pillar of Best Practices. The guides also allow you to attach documents to evidence your compliance with Best Practices. This access is included with membership.

Through this one-year subscription, nonmembers can purchase access to the Best Practices Compliance Management Report. The Compliance Management Report is a useful tool to provide to lenders or other third parties to demonstrate your company's compliance with Best Practices. This Report incorporates the information provided in the Assessment Readiness Guides into a succinct and concise report that is appealing to lenders and other third parties. The Report also allows you to attest that your company meets all of the Best Practices standards. This access is included with membership.

ALTA members have direct access to the U.S. Treasury Department database to make sure all parties involved in the real estate transaction are not engaging in prohibited transactions.

 
Policy Forms License (current)
All title agents (each company with an agency agreement) and underwriters must have a license to use ALTA Policy Forms. The License covers a calendar year (must be renewed annually). There are 3 ways to comply.
  • ALTA members receive a license as a member benefit.
    Companies not wishing to become members may:
  • pay an annual $195 license fee, or
  • apply for an Occasional Use Waiver.
To purchase a Policy Forms License on this website, select ORGANIZATION PROCESSING from the Personal Profile page of the primary contact for the organization.

The Occasional Use Waiver is available for those who, during the previous calendar year, wrote title insurance on 50 or fewer transactions. Applications may be found at www.alta.org/waiver.

Title and Escrow Claims Guide 2017 Edition
This book explains how to handle claims on title insurance policies, closing protection letters and closing mistakes. The book was written by Bush Nielsen, who has 35 years of experience in the title insurance industry. Nielsen has handled thousands of claims and disputes himself. Every type of claim issue is covered, and the book contains practical suggestions on how to resolve claims. This book is equally readable by attorneys and non-lawyers. It is useful for claim handlers, underwriting personnel, title examiners, managers, escrow officers, regulators, lawyers representing insureds, transactional lawyers and retained title defense counsel.
