DALLAS,  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Thomas G. Apel has been named president and chief executive officer of Centex's Title & Insurance Operations. Mr. Apel succeeds Karren P. Bates, who is retiring as of Apr. 1, 2002.

Mr. Apel has more than 20 years' extensive experience in business development, technology, sales, marketing, operations and strategic planning. He joined the company in 1996 when Centex acquired three companies he founded (Adfitech, Inc. in 1981, Adfinet, Inc. in 1988, and Loan Processing Technologies, Inc. in 1993), which became Centex Technology Group. He has continued to be closely involved with these companies, most recently as chairman of Centex Technology Group, a position he will maintain after Apr. 1, 2002.
