ALTA Confronts Proposal to Create Government-run Title Insurer

November 10, 2009

Three draft bills have been introduced that would create a New York title guaranty fund and require that the cost of title insurance be enough to support affordable housing, infrastructure and other programs; establish a title insurance fund administered by the New York insurance department; and require a study of title insurance premium rates in the state.
