Call to Action-RESPA Reform

April 24, 2008

Over 2,100 letters have been sent in response to ALTA's RESPA Action Alert issued on Monday. Concerned members of the title industry are answering the call to contact their Representative and ask him/her to sign the Dear Colleague letter on RESPA reform. The letter asks HUD to extend the comment period on the proposed RESPA Rule by sixty days. Currently, the comment period ends on May 13. There is still time to participate and it only takes a few minutes, click here to send your message of concern or contact Charlene Nieman, Grassroots & PAC Manager at charlene@alta.org or 1-800-787-2582 ext. 233 for more information. ALTA thanks Representative Ruben Hinojosa (D-TX) and Representative Judy Bigger (R-IL) for sponsoring the letter. The more Members of Congress that sign the letter, the better the chance of extending the comment and allowing for careful review on such an important issue, so send your letter today.
