Massachusetts Registers Text Format for Indexing Standards

On January 1, 2000, the Massachusetts Registers and Assistant Registers of Deeds Association adopted Deed Indexing Standards for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Using standards already adopted by other states as models, the Registers Association customized the Massachusetts version to reflect the unique law and practices of the Commonwealth. While the initial version of the Standards proved quite useful, during the intervening five years, we have identified a number of other areas of registry practice that could also benefit from standardization.
