ALTA® Responds To Misleading Consumer Reports Article

July 7, 2006

ALTA wrote a letter to the editor of Consumer Reports Money Adviser responding to her July 2006 editorial, "Clear Title to Profits." The editorial made a number of inaccurate and/or misleading statements, saying that title insurance is "vastly overpriced" and that we don't pay enough in claims.

The reporter did not call ALTA for comment prior to publishing the story. She was basing her uneducated comments on what she has read in the media recently. When we see articles like this, we usually take the time to write to set the record straight and hopefully educate the writer for future articles.
