Foley Drops Executive Role at Fidelity National Financial

William P. Foley II, who had been the executive chairman of the nation's largest title insurance underwriter, Fidelity National Financial, has stepped down from the role as of Jan. 8.

While he retains the chairman title at the Jacksonville, Fla.-based company, Foley will now do so as a nonexecutive. However, Foley remains as executive chairman of FNF spin-off Black Knight Financial Services and as vice chairman of Fidelity National Information Services.

FNF disclosed the change on a Jan. 11 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

This is another step back for Foley from the company he had headed since 1984. In that year, Foley became the chairman, chief executive and president of FNF. He stepped down as president in December 1994 and as CEO in May 2007.
