First American Reflects on 125 Years of Service

October 21, 2014

First American Financial Corp. recently commemorated its 125th anniversary with an emphasis on the people that made the impressive milestone possible—its employees, title agents and customers.

“Since 1889, we’ve understood that the quality of our people has been the primary reason for our success. First American could not have reached this milestone without the hard work and dedication of generations of employees,” said Dennis Gilmore, CEO of First American Financial. “Through their integrity, inspiration and teamwork, our people have shaped the values that define First American and earned the company a reputation for leadership and innovation in the title insurance and settlement services industry.”

He added, “Likewise, we never lose sight of the significant role our title agents have played, and continue to play, in our success. In the months and years ahead, First American will continue to build on our proud legacy as we and our title agents successfully meet the demands of the changing real estate landscape.”

Over its 125-year history, First American has taken a leadership role in creating products and technologies that speed processes, increase quality and best serve its customers. Examples include expanded-coverage policies, automated title searches and technology tools that help increase efficiency for title agents.

At a broader level, First American has played an important role in helping to preserve and promote the title industry through its extensive involvement with the American Land Title Association, state land title associations and other trade organizations. Through volunteerism and other activities, First American has also earned consistent recognition for supporting the communities in which its people live and work.
