N.J.-based Fortune Title Agency Names CEO

June 17, 2014

Fortune Title Agency Inc., a title agency based in Roseland, N.J., appointed Nicole Plath as chief executive officer effective Jan. 1 and majority owner effective March 21.

Plath brings more than 10 years of experience in information systems, software development, and management to her new role. After graduating from Villanova University in 2002 with a Bachelor’s Degree in management and minor in information systems, Plath joined ADP and quickly rose within the ranks to project manager. She completed her Master’s Degree in management of information systems at Stevens Institute of Technology in 2006.

Since joining FTA in 2008, Plath has transformed Fortune’s software and business processing systems, saving the company hundreds of thousands of dollars in her first year alone. Her foresight while serving as FTA’s vice president has been directly attributed to the company’s ability to rebound from legislation that placed New Jersey’s foreclosure market in a cash flow freeze from late 2010 to early 2013, the company said in a release.

“Right now we’re making an effort to grow our traditional insurance base, purchase and refinance products,” Plath said. “After the success we’ve had in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, we’re setting our sights on a wider arc.”

Plath received the 2013 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility, which emphasizes employee feedback in determining the winners. Under her leadership, FTA has also become more involved with charities through its Fortune Cares project. FTA donates to a different charity each month and has company-wide volunteer days.

Nicole Plath’s father, Nick Timpanaro, FTA’s founder and president, made the announcement.
