View Livestream of CFPB's Forum on Improving the Closing Process on Wednesday

April 22, 2014

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will host an open public forum on the mortgage closing process at 2:30 p.m. ET, April 23. The event will feature remarks from Director Richard Cordray, as well as a discussion with consumer groups, industry representatives and members of the public.

A livestream of the event will be shown on the CFPB’s blog.

In January, the CFPB issued a request for information on key consumer “pain points” associated with mortgage closing and how the process might be improved through market innovations and technology, such as electronic signatures and developing paperless processes. You can read more about this initiative and reaction from ALTA and other industry professionals in the April digital edition of TitleNews.

The Bureau is expected to release results of this research during the forum. Following remarks from Cordray, ALTA CEO Michelle Korsmo will join a panel discussion on the findings. The panel will include representatives from other consumer groups, industry experts and members of the public.
