Microsoft Ends Support for Windows XP

April 8, 2014

After April 8, Microsoft will stop providing technical assistance for Windows XP, including automatic updates that help protect computers.

Windows XP will still function normally; however, it will be open to various malicious attacks that Microsoft will no longer fix. The last crop of security updates will be released shortly.

Companies that have not already migrated to Microsoft’s new operating system face potential security and compliance risks after the software provider ends support. To stay protected, Microsoft suggests upgrading your current computer or to get a new computer. Click here for more information from Microsoft.

There are options for small and medium businesses considering moving to a modern computer. Small to mid-size organizations should locate a Microsoft certified partner to understand the best options to meet their business needs. If your current computer meets the system requirements for Windows 7 or Windows 8, you can buy Windows 7 Professional or Windows 8 Pro from a local retailer or Microsoft certified partner. If your computer does not meet system requirements, consider purchasing a new business computer with Windows 8 Pro.
